OAC is Australia's first subsea high-speed cable to Europe, the Middle East and Africa, representing a key pathway for diverse connectivity from Australia to Oman, Europe and beyond, spanning nearly 9,800 kilometers.

Bevan Slattery, founder of SUBCO, said: “Today, too much of our internet traffic is concentrated on routes that represent a large number of single points of failure, and the Oman-Australia Cable provides a fully diverse deep-sea express line between our two continents.”

"More data is flowing around the world than ever before," Slattery said. "Australia's fast, secure connection to EMEA is finally overdue. This is an important part of increasing digital resilience in Australia and internationally."

Final testing and commissioning of the OAC is underway and the system is expected to be operational in September 2022.
