一、Characteristics of cross-linked polyethylene wire
1. The heat resistance of cross-linked polyethylene with net-like three-dimensional structure is superior among insulating materials. The working temperature is increased from 70°C to 90°C, and the thermal life can be as long as 40 years.
2. Good insulation performance, XLPE insulation material maintains the high-quality insulation characteristics of PE insulation material, and further increases the performance of insulation resistance. Due to its small dielectric loss tangent, it is not greatly affected by temperature.
3. The mechanical properties are enhanced, and new chemical bonds are established during the crosslinking process, which improves the hardness, stiffness, wear resistance and impact resistance of XLPE, and makes up for the shortcomings of PE that are susceptible to environmental stress and cracks.
4. Chemical resistance. Cross-linked polyethylene material has strong acid and alkali resistance and oil resistance. Its combustion products are mainly water and carbon dioxide, which is less harmful to the environment and belongs to green environmental protection products.

二、 The use characteristics of XLPE wire and cable
1. Power frequency rated voltage: U0/U(Um)0.6/1(1.2)kV;
2. The maximum allowable long-term working temperature of the cable conductor is 90°C;
3. When short-circuited (the longest duration does not exceed 5s), the maximum allowable temperature of the cable conductor does not exceed 250°C;
4. The ambient temperature should not be lower than 0°C when the cable is laid;
5. The bending radius of the cable should be 15 times larger than the outer diameter of the cable.

三、 Permissible conditions for the operation of XLPE insulated power cables
1. Laying in the air
(1) Center distance when single-core cables are laid in parallel: 185mm and below is twice the cable diameter, 240mm and above is 90mm.;
(2) Ambient air temperature: 40°C;
(3) The long-term maximum working temperature of the conductor: 90°C;
(4) Correction coefficient (k) of ampacity at different ambient temperatures.
2. Direct buried laying
(1) When the single-core cable is laid without contact, the cable center distance is twice the cable diameter;
(2) Soil temperature: 25°C;
(3) The long-term maximum working temperature of the conductor: 90°C;
(4) Soil temperature coefficient: 1.0℃.m/w;
(5) Direct burial depth: 0.7m;
(6) Correction coefficients for different soil temperatures and discharge rates.

四. How to prevent XLPE wire and cable from getting damp in advance?
(1) When laying cables, it is necessary to ensure that the cable ends are well sealed. For the sawn cable ends, special sealing sleeves should be used for storage and management to prevent moisture from penetrating into the wire ends;
(2) During the cable laying process, construction measures should be taken to prevent the cable sheath from being damaged by external force;
(3) Improve the production process of the strong cable head to prevent water from entering the cable head during the production process;
(4) After the cable is laid, the cable head should be sealed and placed in time;
(5) Strict testing and inspection shall be carried out on the samples sent by the manufacturer, and a reliable high-quality manufacturer shall be selected.
